Krachtige lijnen, heldere kleuren en groteske figuren. Het expressieve werk van Henk Vierveijzer komt recht op de toeschouwer af. Het toont enigszins chaotisch, maar vertegenwoodigt een geordende chaos. Hoewel de basis spontaan ontstaat, brengt de kunstenaar weloverwogen voortdurend nuances aan, schildert hij fragmenten weg of verzacht deze totdat de chaos bedwongen is. Hierdoor behouden de werken hun spontaniteit en explosieve kracht, maar vetellen ze de toeschouwer ook hun verhaal. Een verhaal over de nietigheid van de mens, over het mooie en tegelijk ongelofelijke absurde van het leven. De kunstenaar toont met een grote dosis relativerende humor zijn levensvisie.

Henk Vierveijzer werkt vanuit wanorde. Op een leeg doek creeert hij eerst chaos door bijna gedachteloos met verf aan  de slag te gaan. Met heftige bewegingen worden kleuren opgebracht waardoor spontaal verschillende beeldelementen op het doek ontstaan. Door afstand te nemen onderzoekt hij welke beeldelementen noodzakelijk zijn om uiteindelijk een spannend geheel over te houden. Elementen die overbodig blijken, worden weggeschilderd. Hij wordt steeds geconfronteerd met een spanningsveld tussen het bedachtzaam selecteren van hetgeen goed of slecht is enerzijds en de spontaniteit van het schilderproces anderzijds. Uiteindelijk wordt de gemaakte chaos geordend en streeft hij naar een resultaat dat zowel spannend als herkenbaar is.

Vierveijzer is onder te brengen bij de Nieuwe Schilderkunst. deze stroming ontstond ruim dertig jaar geleden als reactie op de formalistische, abstracte en/of conceptuele kunstvormen uit de jaren zestig en begin jaren zeventig. Vertegenwoordigers van het  "nieuwe schilderen" als de Duitser Anselm Kiefer en de Nederlander Alphons Freijmuth zijn inspiratiebronnen voor Vierveijzer. Het recente werk toont de betrekkelijkheid van het leven en onderstreept, aldus de kunstenaar zelf, de lulligheid van ons bestaan. De kunstenaar relativeert door middel van een heel eigen prikkelende humor die met name in de titels tot uitdrukking komt. Hij relativeert zoals hij ook zijn schilderen en zichzelf relativeert: "ik ben toch gewoon een plaatjesmaker?"

Inmiddels mag Henk Vierveijzer zich tot de selecte groep van kunstenaars rekenen wiens werk meermaals is bekroond. Nog onlangs werd hij winnaar van de Dutch Olympic Sport and Art Contest, en eindigde hij in Lausanne op de vijfde plaats in de Mondiale Sport and Art Contest. De jury (waaronder Rudy Fuchs) oordeelde als volgt: Het winnende doek Hurray 4, 4 vertegenwoordigt de optimale frisheid van de Nederlandse kunst. Vierveijzers werk is opgenomen in diverse (internationale) zakelijke- en prive-collecties.
